The Miami Broward Carnival will occur from October 4, 2025 to October 12, 2025.
The Miami Broward Carnival is celebrated in Miami, Florida, primarily at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds.
Miami Broward Carnival is an annual cultural event celebrating Caribbean heritage, marked by vibrant parades, music, dance, and elaborate costumes. Held in Miami, Florida, this festival usually takes place in October, attracting thousands of participants and spectators from around the world. The event features a week-long series of festivities, culminating in the main parade and concert at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds.
The Carnival showcases a rich blend of Caribbean traditions, including soca, calypso, and reggae music, alongside steel pan bands and dance performances. Participants don colorful, intricate costumes adorned with feathers, beads, and sequins, representing various Caribbean islands. This celebration not only highlights the diversity of Caribbean culture but also fosters a sense of community and pride among the Caribbean diaspora in Miami.
In addition to the parade and concerts, Miami Carnival includes a variety of other events such as J’ouvert, a pre-dawn celebration with paint, mud, and powder, and the Junior Carnival for younger participants. Food vendors offer a taste of Caribbean cuisine, from jerk chicken to roti, adding to the festive atmosphere. At Miami Broward Carnival, expect a vibrant celebration of Caribbean culture with a dynamic Parade of the Bands featuring thousands of masqueraders in elaborate costumes, live music, and a festive atmosphere. The event includes exciting costume competitions, the energetic Panorama steel pan music contest, and performances by top international Caribbean artists. Visitors can also enjoy a diverse array of Caribbean food, drinks, and arts and crafts from various vendors.
J'ouvert morning precedes the carnival parade and takes place in the early hours on the streets, offering a spirited alternative to participating in costumed bands. Unlike the Parade of the Bands, J'ouvert embraces a more casual atmosphere, with participants donning t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers instead of elaborate costumes.
Following the parade, the excitement continues as bands perform on the main stage, showcasing their themes through costume, color, and movement. A panel of carnival experts from around the world judges the bands in various categories, vying for the prestigious title "Band of the Year".
More than twenty mas bands. Each band presentig a unique theme with vibrant costumes adorned with beads and feathers, and the event culminates in a concert after the bands are judged.
At the Carnival Village, over fifty food vendors offer a wide selection of Caribbean culinary delights, including dishes from the Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago, and more. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of Caribbean rums, beers, and beverages, making it a perfect place to satisfy cravings for jerk, curry, or stew dishes.
The concert segment on Carnival Sunday showcases international Caribbean talent, featuring well-known soca acts and live bands. Previous performers include Patrice Roberts, Skinny Fabulous, Machel Montano, and many others, creating a high-energy atmosphere with diverse musical performances.
Panorama is a steel pan music competition. This event features steel pan orchestras delivering an authentic Caribbean musical experience, performing local and favorite carnival tunes in a lively concert setting.
