The Berlin Karneval will take place from May 22, 2026 to May 25, 2026.
The Berlin Karneval is celebrated in Frankfurter Allee / Karl-Marx-Allee.
The Berlin Karneval, officially known as the Karneval der Kulturen (Carnival of Cultures), is a vibrant, multicultural festival that takes place annually over the Pentecost weekend in Berlin, Germany. First launched in 1996, the event was created as a response to growing cultural diversity in the city and a desire to celebrate it publicly. It serves as a platform for different communities and ethnic groups to express their cultural identities through music, dance, art, costume, and food. Organized by the Werkstatt der Kulturen, the Karneval promotes inclusion, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among the city’s residents and visitors.
The festival is centered around a spectacular street parade, where thousands of performers from around the world take to the streets in colorful costumes, accompanied by floats, live bands, and dancers. Alongside the parade, a sprawling street festival offers multiple stages with international music performances, children’s activities, food stalls from every continent, craft markets, and interactive cultural workshops. The atmosphere is festive and inclusive, attracting hundreds of thousands of people each year. Beyond its entertainment value, the Berlin Karneval is a strong statement of unity and multicultural pride, making it one of the most socially significant and celebrated public events in the city.
Berlin’s Karneval der Kulturen is a four-day celebration of multicultural diversity held each Pentecost weekend in Kreuzberg. Expect a whirlwind of vibrant street parades, live music, global food stalls, family-friendly events, and pulsating parties that blend culture and carnival spirit.
Over 5,000 performers and around 69 floats from countries like Angola, Armenia, Bolivia, and Vietnam, moving along a 3 km route on Frankfurter Allee.
Around 350 booths and food trucks offering diverse cuisine—from savory to sweet—and you can even bring your own drinks.
As evening falls, many open-air events and clubs (like Wilde Renate, Sisyphos, About) host themed cultural parties and DJ sets.
Three main stages (e.g., Klang Plaza), interactive theatre, clown acts, stunt shows, and sustainable “Shanti Town” stalls with crafts and dance workshops.
It's a socially conscious festival rooted in anti-racism and inclusion, offering a space to celebrate diversity and solidarity.
A colorful, fun parade and mini-festival for kids, featuring costumes, floats, performances, and costume contests with jury awards.
